BBC journalist has confirmed that Kallstrom was injured when Arsenal signed him

It has been confirmed that Kallstrom picked up the injury playing football on the beach during Spartak’s training camp in Abu Dhabi last week

The former Lyon midfielder had been brought in as cover for the injured Aaron Ramsey and will be out for at least 6 games with back injury found in medical before signing. Not done in training.

Kallstrom had informed the Gunners of discomfort on arrival at club on Friday an MRI scan was performed but had showed no damage, Hpwever a CT scan found back injury.

The Arsenal medical team gave Wenger the prognosis but it was decided Kallstrom would still sign & undergo rehabilitation with the Club.

This has been confirmed by David Ornstein who took to twitter saying

“Clarification – Kallstrom out for at least 6 games with back injury found in medical before signing. Not done in training”

“Kallstrom injured his back on Tuesday while playing football on a beach during Spartak’s pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi”

“Kallstrom informed Arsenal of discomfort on arrival at club on Fri – MRI scan showed no damage, CT scan found back injury”

This comes as a blow as Jack Wilshere will also miss Sunday’s home clash against Crystal Palace with an ankle injury while Mathieu Flamini is suspended after getting sent during the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with Southampton on Tuesday.

Tomas Rosicky should return though, wearing a protective mask, having broken his nose against Aston Villa three weeks ago.
