Dennis Bergkamp’s statue was unveiled before Arsenal faced Sunderland on Saturday, and following chants of “Sign him up!” has pledged to one day return to the club as a coach.

The Dutchman currently serves as Frank De Boer’s assistant manager at Ajax, but has written himself into Gunners folklore with 120 goals in 315 games for the North london side over his 11 year stay.

After fans were chanting “Sign him up!” at his statue unveiling, the Dutchman insisted he would love to return to the Arsenal scene once more. He told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad: “But it’s not the right time. I have a family with four children and we have just started something at Ajax.

“I am not in rush. But one day I will return to Arsenal.”

Bergkamp then also raised the possibility of former Gunners stars Thierry henry and Patrick Vieira joining him on his return, to coach the future generation of Arsenal players.

“Maybe we will all return together, just like we did with a couple of former players at Ajax,” he added.
