Boost for Liverpool in chase for Lorenzo Pellegrini

Klopp wants Pellegrini to replace Emre Can

German Midfielder Emre Can’s contract expires on June this year and despite Liverpool’s several offers for a new and improved contract,he has rejected the advances. Juventus has shown strong interest in him and are most likely to sign him this summer on a free transfer.

Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp is wary of losing Can on a free transfer and wants to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window. He has identified Roma’s midfielder Lorenzo Pelligrini to replace Can.

Italian source Corriere dello Sport, quoted by teamtalk.com, says that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the 21-year-old’s abilities and is planning a move for the player at the end of the season.

It is also reported that Roma are willing to listen offers for the 21 year old. Though Pelligrini is under contract till 2021, but club has stated that he could be sold if some club matches his release clause which is just €32 million.

This could be a huge bargain for the Reds and it could be much cheaper than the club’s other targets like Napoli’s midfielder Jorginho.

Pellegrini has made 17 starts in Serie A this term, netting three times, while also making four appearances in the Champions League.
