Magpies desperate to land striker

Newcastle United have launched a £21million bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, according to reports.

The Baggies striker was desperate to leave The Hawthorns over the summer, but the club rejected four formal offers from Tottenham Hotspur, with the majority of them coming on Transfer Deadline Day.

Berahino then fell out with the club’s board and Tony Pulis after refusing to play for the club again, and because of that he’s spent the majority of this season on the substitute bench.

However, he did play in the FA Cup yesterday and netted twice against Peterborough United during their 2-2 draw.

Newcastle are known to be interested in signing a striker this weekend, with Seydou Doumbia reportedly having a medical ahead of a loan deal, as well as launching a formal offer for Berahino.

It’s still believed West Brom want at least £25m.
