Liverpool defender, Martin Skrtel, has been charged by the FA for violent conduct.

The centre-back appeared to stamp on David De Gea in the final minutes of Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, which started a tussle between the teams at the full-time whistle.

After chasing a through ball, Skrtel planted his foot on the ankle of De Gea causing him to hobble off at the end.

The FA announced today that they were investigating the incident and they have now decided to charge the Slovak for violent conduct.

This charge means Skrtel could miss the next three games for Liverpool, which are; Arsenal, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.

Skrtel has to respond by Tuesday to the charge.
