Jordan Henderson has become a surprise target for Liverpool’s Premier League rivals, Manchester City, according to the Daily Mail.
City are planning a squad-overhaul in the summer months, and see the newly-found Liverpool captain has an ideal signing to boost their midfield options, and aid their home-grown numbers.
The 24-year-old has become a pivotal part of Liverpool’s season to date, and City officials are impressed at his leadership, having taken the captains’ armband at some-stages this season.
And according to the Daily Mail, City have turned their attentions on the England-international, having also been linked with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere last week.
However it is likely that the Etihad Stadium outfit will have a battle on their hands, with Henderson in-line to take the armband on a permanent basis, once Steven Gerrard departs for LA Galaxy, despite the Sunderland-born midfielder still yet to agree terms at Anfield over a new deal.
Henderson signed for Liverpool from his hometown club in the summer of 2011 for a ÂŁ20 million fee, making 131 appearances for the Reds in that time.
