Contract rebel does no-show at Melwood
Liverpool star Raheem Sterling has failed to report to the third day of pre-season training after calling in sick.
The Reds have only been back at training for two days, returning on Monday, but according to reports, Sterling has failed to show up to training today and called in claiming to be sick.
Sterling Goes AWOL
As reported earlier, the winger has already informed Brendan Rodgers that he doesn’t want to go on the club pre-season tour to the Far East and Australia.
The squad are expected to fly out on their tour on Sunday, but Sterling has informed the club that he has no desire on joining them.
However, Rodgers has told the 20-year-old that he will attend unless a deal is agreed before the weekend.
In a further twist, Sterling has not arrived at Melwood today and has not turned up to training.
Club Policy
A club policy states that ill players must see the club doctor to prove whether or not he’s too ill to train, but instead of doing this, Sterling phoned up from home and told them he wouldn’t be going in.
Liverpool have declined to comment on the situation but the winger hasn’t been spotted with the rest of the squad.
This will lead to further speculation surrounding the winger’s future with him strongly linked to Manchester City.
