Liverpool star WON’T be travelling with squad on pre-season tour
Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling won’t be going on the club’s pre-season tour it has been revealed.
The 20-year-old was named in a provisional 30-man squad to fly over to the Far East and Australia for the club’s pre-season tour. However, the winger will now not be going with his fellow team-mates.
Sterling’s Controversial Week
Sterling returned to pre-season as expected on Monday, which was when he first informed Brendan Rodgers he didn’t want to go on the tour, but then he phoned in sick and missed the next two days of training.
The winger returned to Melwood on Thursday after his absence and once again told Rodgers he didn’t want to go on the tour with his team-mates.
However, Rodgers put his foot down and told Sterling he will be included unless a deal with Manchester City is done by the weekend.
City Remain Interested
The Citizens have already had two formal bids turned down for Sterling by Liverpool, as they look set to hold out for £50million, but a third deal is expected to be launched sooner rather than later, with some reports claiming the final bid will be worth £44m.
With Sterling now not going on the tour, a move to City edges closer.
