Liverpool set for busy Summer after season’s failures

Liverpool Football Club have extended their sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered, meaning their transfer kitty for the Summer has largely improved.

The club have announced that they’ve extended their deal with the sponsors until the end of the 2018/2019 season, earning them roughly around £30million a year.

This means Brendan Rodgers could have a rather substantial transfer kitty available to him over the upcoming Summers.

Incoming Funds

As well as the new sponsorship deal, Liverpool are expected to sell several first-team players at the end of the season, earning the club even more cash to reinvest.

Liverpool’s season looks all-but over after their FA Cup Semi-Final defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, as their hopes for a top-four finish are all-but gone as well after costly defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal.

Despite uncertainty over Rodgers’ job, Liverpool seem to back the boss and will once again give him a healthy transfer kitty for the Summer.

Liverpool’s chief commercial officer Billy Hogan said: “This extension further demonstrates the great strength of our long-term relationship and the success of our partnership with Standard Chartered.

“The sponsorship of the Liverpool shirt is extremely prestigious and only five brands will have adorned the shirt in the 40 years since we created the sponsorship opportunity.”

Standard Chartered’s group chief executive said: “Liverpool Football Club is a fantastic club and hugely popular across our global footprint.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue this collaboration, and look forward to what we can achieve together in the future.”
