Celtic have allowed Brendan Rodgers to initiate talks with Leicester City to take up the vacant managerial position.
Leicester parted ways with Claude Puel after the 4-1 hammering at the hands of Crystal Palace. The Foxes are very keen on bringing the Irish to the King Power stadium and talks have started between the two parties.
Celtic would be entitled to a compensation fee and the Bhoys have already readied their replacement as former Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon are on the verge of returning to his old stomping ground.
As of now the Foxes are quite comfortably positioned in the 12th position but a number of mishaps in the next few games could be dangerous as they are only eight points adrift of the relegation zone.
Celtic issued a statement on their official website : “Celtic today confirmed that it has been approached by Leicester to speak to Brendan Rodgers with regards to their current managerial vacancy.
“Brendan has indicated to the club that this is an opportunity he wishes to investigate further and therefore, very reluctantly, the club has granted him permission to speak to Leicester.”
It could be a matter of hours before the former Liverpool gaffer takes his charge officially.
