Brendan Rodgers to remain as Liverpool manager

Brendan Rodgers is set to remain as Liverpool manager, it has emerged today.

The Northern Irishman is coming under increasing pressure at Anfield, following a rather poor start to the Premier League season.

Liverpool lie 12th in the table, following Sunday’s humbling 3-1 defeat away at Crystal Palace, with Rodgers set to be granted more time by the club’s American owners.

Despite spending over ÂŁ100 million on transfer dealings this summer, the Reds have struggled to maintain their form from last season, with Liverpool finishing as runners-up to Manchester City.

The sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, and an injury blow to Daniel Sturridge haven’t helped proceedings, however Fenway Sports believe that Rodgers is the man to help revive the Reds.

Speaking following the defeat at Palace on Sunday, Rodgers said: “I’m not arrogant enough to think that I will be in a job through anything. Any manager will tell you that you have to win games and you have to get results, especially after how we’ve been developing as a football club.

“I have great communication with the owners and we’ve always been honest and open enough with each other. But ultimately you have to get results and you have to perform.

“There’s no doubt as a manager you have to get results. That will support the confidence to the owners, and you take it from there.

“As I said, I will only ever do my best. The best has seen us develop well. Now I have to fight even harder and take the responsibility. As manager, the responsibility comes down to me and any pressure comes on to me.”
