Liverpool boss to begin exodus

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants at least eight first-team players sold over the Summer as he looks to re-build his squad ahead of the new season.

The Reds have gone from Premier League Runners-Up to a potential fifth placed finish and after wasting all of the Luis Suarez money on mediocre signings, Rodgers is now planning on selling eight current first-team players.

SAS Absence

Liverpool lost Suarez to FC Barcelona for ÂŁ75million, but the club spent all of that on the likes of Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Mario Balotelli.

Rodgers has also been without Daniel Sturridge for the majority of the season through injury and with two of their most influential players from last season out, Liverpool have struggled.

They look set to miss out on Champions League football after just one year back in the competition and despite Rodgers’ job being insecure, he is already making Summer transfer plans.

Eight Players on the List

The manager wants eight players out throughout the break so that the club can reinvest in new faces.

The list of eight players expected to leave are; Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Glen Johnson, Kolo Toure, Brad Jones, Jose Enrique, Rickie Lambert and Lucas Leiva.

It’s believed Rodgers will then look to bring in four or five new players in order to push on for next season.
