Brondby chairman Jan Bech Anderson has said they the Danish club will do ‘everything in their power’ to re-sign defender Daniel Agger.

Agger, who was brought through the youth ranks at Brondby, is possibly facing the end of his Anfield career after the Reds signed Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren for ÂŁ20million. However, manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he has no intention of letting Agger leave this summer.

Despite what his bosshas said, Agger has made it clear that he has no intention playing second-fiddle at the club. Barcelona are reportedly in advanced talks to sign him, but Anderson is hoping that he will return home to Denmark,

“He is a dream player, there is no doubt about that,” he said.

“We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right.

“So let us hope we can tie up the loose ends. When that is, time will tell but we will go a long way to get him back because it will show where we set the bar.

“It will show that we have ambitions and will make a lot of fans happy.”

Andersen added to 3point.dk: “We will do everything in our power but it is clear that we also need to be responsible and we need to do what is right at the right time.

“But to answer the question, yes, we will do everything that we can, if and when the possibility arises, and see if we can tie up the loose ends.”
