Paris Saint Germain custodian Gianluigi Buffon has said that he wants to extend his stay with the Ligue 1 giants for one more season. But he has insisted that he would do that only if his goalkeeping partner Alphonse Areola doesn’t mind. The former Juventus keeper joined the French outfit in the last term and has established himself as the number one in the lineup under current manager Thomas Tuchel.
Speaking to the media at a news conference ahead of the mega clash between PSG and Lyon, the 41-year-old shot-stopper said, “If Alphonse and the club want it, I’d stay another season here.”
He added, “But for now, it is important for us to stay focused on our goals which are Lyon, Bordeaux and Manchester [United]. Concerning my contract for the next season, we already have a lot of things to think before that.”
Speaking about his unfulfilled desire to win the Champions League, the player said, “Every year, I thought it could be the right year. But it is now 24 years since I am trying to win the Champions League. But it is very hard to do so. You have to be a bit lucky.”
