Cabaye and Mata top PSG’s Premier League hitlist

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sign Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye in the January sales, as well as Blues duo Juan Mata and Eden Hazard, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication have revealed the Ligue 1 champions’ alleged transfer list for the January window, and it’s not pretty reading for Newcastle and Chelsea fans.

PSG are currently sitting top of their domestic division, but that hasn’t stopped rumours spreading as they look to build a squad capable of winning European competitions.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani lead an impressive (but, expensive) strike force, though there attentions have now turned to the men creating chances for the duo, as players such as Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez haven’t quite hit the new high standards in the capital.

Juventus midfielder, formerly of Manchester United, Paul Pogba is another name mentioned by L’Equipe, and he shares a similar goal as Newcastle man Cabaye in trying to make Didier Deschamp’s World Cup squad for June.

Alan Pardew has praised his influential playmaker in recent weeks for keeping his head and putting his full commitment in this season to find form once again in the Premier League.

Cabaye was subject to a ÂŁ10million bid from Arsenal in the summer, and skipped training sessions and matches alike as he looked to seek a move away.

That switch didn’t materialize, but a Champions League venture with PSG would probably suit the 27-year-old, as it would also boost the chances of him starting in Brazil for Les Bleus.

Juan Mata has been frozen out at Chelsea this season, the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho insisting the Spaniard doesn’t fit in his style of football, preferring Oscar in the No 10 role instead.

The 24-year-old is still highly-rated in the all-conquering Spanish national team, and seamingly every neutral fan in England, not to mention the Chelsea fanbase. He may have had enough of the substitutes bench after another failed outing at Arsenal on Monday night, completely sitting out the 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

He has won Player of the Year at the club two years in the row, and may need a move in January for a different reason than Cabaye, to boost general playing time to be picked by Vicente Del Bosque and Spain.

Belgian winger Eden Hazard is a new man to be linked with PSG, and probably the least likely to take the Winter plunge across the Channel.

Unlike Mata, Mourinho seems to be a fan of the former Lille man, but can a move back ‘home’ to Ligue 1 tempt him?

The January transfer window is often heavily criticized by managers because of disruptions to their team, not to mention their supporters urging for cash to be spent.

And things may not get any easier for Premier League managers, with PSG lurking ready to snap up any unwanted (or, wanted) talent.
