Carl Jenkinson wants bigger role

Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson has admitted that he wants a bigger role at the club after he started in their 2-0 victory against Hull City last night.

The start was the right-back’s first Premier League start since October, and it only took him two minutes to make an impact as he produced a super cross for Nicklas Bendtner who turned home with his head to give the hosts an early lead.

Jenkinson was in the starting line-up due to normal defender Bacary Sagna having a slight hamstring injury, but after the game, he revealed that he eyes the right-back spot permanently.

He told BBC London 94.9: “The way the back four has been playing lately, I’ve had to just sit back and admire it really. They have been fantastic.

“It is nice for me to get a game. I want to be involved in this journey we are on at the moment.”
