Bayern Munich has captured their 8th straight Bundesliga title.
The German side wrapped up the league title with two games two go last night after their 1-0 win over Werder Bremen last night. Dortmund have three games to play till the end of the season but are 10 points behind Bayern meaning their campaign is over and Munich are the champions.
It was a weird season for football in Germany. Dortmund started extremely well alongside RB Leipzig whereas Munich had a slow start to their league campaign. Their team dynamics despite having multiple good players did not click and their former boss Niko Kovac was sacked following a series of bad results.
A temporary replacement was found in his assistant Hansi Flick who has since done a brilliant job to guide the Bavarians to an 8th consecutive league title. Flick has the job on a full-time basis but his first league win as a manager would not have tasted so well as matches across Europe are currently taking place in empty stadiums.
Bayern’s title win and celebration looked like a ghostly past of their former celebrations with the fans and it did paint a rather depressing picture for a game that runs so high on emotions and excitement. Nonetheless, it does not mean that the Bayern Munich are team are any less deserving of playing yet another brilliant campaign.
Congratulations to the Bavarians!
