Morgan Schneiderlin and John Obi Mikel could swap clubs

Chelsea and Southampton are reportedly working on a sensational player-swap deal which will see Morgan Schneiderlin go to Stamford Bridge, and John Obi Mikel go to St Marys.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move away from The Saints since last Summer, when a whole host of his team-mates quit the club for bigger teams, but he was told he wasn’t for sale and couldn’t complete a move away.

At the time, it was Tottenham Hotspur that were keen on signing him, but now Arsenal and Chelsea are battling it out to sign the holding-midfielder.

Two-Horse Race

Arsenal have been interested in Schneiderlin all season, but in recent weeks, Jose Mourinho has also been impressed with the midfielder’s performances and is now ready to offer Saints a formal deal.

Chelsea will offer Mikel, who has only played 12 times this season, as part of the deal in order to try and beat Arsenal.

The Blues will probably offer some money as well as the Nigerian, but with them offering a potential replacement as well, Southampton could prefer to do business with Mourinho’s side.

Schneiderlin is expected to leave this Summer after the club failed to cement a Champions League place despite their superb season under Ronald Koeman.
