Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri thinks that defender David Luiz will be very important for The Blues this season. Luiz had a pretty disappointing 2017-18 season under Antonio Conte as he played just 17 matches across all competitions. Luiz also fell out with Conte as he questioned the Italian’s tactics.
The lack of playing time eventually led to David Luiz being omitted from Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Sarri said, I am very happy with David for his attitude, very happy. I think David will be very important for the team and also for me.”
Luiz has also expressed his delight in working with Sarri. The Brazilian said, “I love Sarri’s philosophy. We play high, with a lot of possession in a technical way. He’s trying to help us every single day to learn quickly his philosophy. A new philosophy always takes time. But it also depends on us. If we’re dedicated every day and doing things every single day in training, we’re trying to learn quickly.”
Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign against Huddersfield Town on 11th August.
