Winger WILL travel with Barcelona on pre-season tour
Chelsea have been dealt a fresh blow in their pursuit of FC Barcelona star Pedro after it was revealed that he will be travelling with them on their pre-season tour of America.
The Spaniard has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with some reports claiming it could be done as soon as next week.
However, the winger is joining his team-mates on their pre-season tour after manager Luis Enrique revealed his desire to keep the 27-year-old at the club.
Enrique Wants Pedro to Stay
Enrique said: “I do not want any player to leave my staff, none. I have said many times how important Pedro is for us but there is a clause, and if he wants to leave, I will respect his decision.”
Pedro‘s release clause in his contract was recently cut from £107million to just £22m, sparking interest from the Premier League.
Despite travelling to America with Barca, Pedro could use that time to speak to officials from Chelsea as they are also in the United States for their pre-season.
