Bets on manager to be sacked were suspended yesterday
Chelsea have rubbished speculation that Antonio Conte is set to be sacked, after bets on the Italian manager being relived from his post were suspended on Wednesday afternoon.
Several leading bookmakers lead the speculation about Conte leaving Stamford Bridge just 3 months after starting his new Premier League job.
However, it’s now understood that Conte is preparing as normal for his next game, which is at home to reigning champions Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime.
Conte, who is contracted to Chelsea until the summer of 2019, has endured a mixed start to life in England.
He won his opening three matches in charge of the Blues, but failed to secure a Premier League victory in September, notably suffering defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal.
Chelsea were the third highest spenders in the summer transfer window, with Conte splashing out £116m on the additions of Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and David Luiz, but it was thought Conte expressed his unhappiness to owner Roman Abramovic over being unhappy about the players signed, and being unable to secure the targets he truly wanted.
However, it’s now understood by Sky Sports there these concerns were not real, and everything is normal at Chelsea.
