Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the Saints over a potential transfer for England international, Adam Lallana.
The midfielder has been a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season and added to his goal tally against Tottenham on Sunday. Lallana’s impressive club performances have also led to an England call-up and after impressing Roy Hodgson, Lallana is a strong possibility for a World Cup inclusion.
According to Sky Italy, Hodgson is not the only manager to have been impressed with his displays as Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho plots a summer move for the 25 year old.
Southampton would be reluctant to let go of their prize midfielder for a small sum of money, as he has 8 goals in the league this season and 5 assists. However the Blues are hoping to take advantage of Pochettino’s uncertain future at St Mary’s. Manchester United were also linked with a move for the midfielder earlier this month but the prospect of Champions League football would certainly tempt Lallana into a move to Stamford Bridge.
Lallana would however have to compete for a regular spot in Mourinho’s team as Willian, Schurrle, Hazard and Salah have all looked bright during their respective appearances for Chelsea.
