Chelsea eye Destro with Costa set for a spell on the sideline

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is set to make a move for AS Roma striker Mattia Destro, as he looks for a replacement for the injured Diego Costa.

Costa has suffered a hamstring injury which will rule him out for around 6 weeks. Fernando Torres is the only current back up, and he himself has been linked with AC Milan this summer.

Italy international Destro would cost around ÂŁ20 million from the Serie A side. He managed to get on the scoresheet 13 times last season as Roma qualified for the Champions League.

Any move for the striker will have to be made quickly, with the transfer window closing on Monday evening. Destro has also been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal this summer, but with Chelsea’s urgent need for a striker it’s likely that they’ll come up with the money before the North London duo.
