Blues want to send Diego Costa back to Atletico Madrid with Antoine Griezmann coming in other direction

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to offer Diego Costa back to his old-club Atletico Madrid, in the hope that they will give them Antoine Griezmann as part of the deal.

Costa had a stunning debut season in England, netting over 20 goals in all competitions, but since the new season has begun, he’s failed to impress and he’s been dropped for the past two games.

After visibly falling out with Mourinho during the Maccabi Tel-Aviv game, it’s expected that the Spaniard won’t be a Chelsea player for much longer, and reports in Spain have emerged that the Premier League champions want to do a player-swap deal.

Costa Out/Griezmann In

Mourinho is desperate to land Griezmann, and is prepared to either offer around ÂŁ36million, or do a straight swap for Costa, who they signed from Atletico last summer.

Whether it will be a straight swap or a swap plus cash is yet to be understood, but it’s a deal that Chelsea want to get done in January in order to get Costa out of Stamford Bridge.

Filipe Luis has already returned to Atletico after leaving for Chelsea, and it looks like Costa could be set to make the same decision.
