Chelsea forced to sell ONE foreign player

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that his side have to sell at least one foreign player due to the homegrown rules of the Premier League and the Champions League, and it’s looking like goalkeeper Petr Cech who will be sacrificed.

After re-signing Didier Drogba, The Blues took their tally of overseas players to 18, which is one more than they are allowed in their registered 25-man squad for the Premier League, which means they will be forced into selling at least one of their foreign players so that they can meet the guidelines.

The rules state that clubs are only allowed 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in their squads, and with Drogba returning, Chelsea are now being forced to lose a player.

Mourinho is trying to sell striker Fernando Torres and also midfielder John Obi Mikel, but currently interest in the duo is limited, and Cech could be the realistic sale with Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco keen.

Mourinho said: ‘From the group you are expecting us to have as a squad, I have to send one away because we have one extra foreign player.

‘So from all these players, if you think all of them have to stay, you are wrong. One of them has to go.’
