Reports from Italy claim that Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, is desperate to sign Moroccan International Mehdi Benatia, and some reports are even suggesting that Mourinho will do anything in his power to bring the defender to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City are yet to agree a deal with Roma over Benatia despite settling personal teams with the player. They will now have to offer a transfer sum of around £38 million if they want his signature. Despite interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, it looks like The Blues are in pole position to sign the 27-year-old.
If the deal goes ahead in Chelsea’s favour, it will sure incense Pellegrini, who has a very turbulent relationship with Jose Mourinho. The Chilean is also very keen to bring the centre-back to The Etihad to pair up in the heart of City’s defence. However, if the Benatia agrees a move to west London, then he will turn his attentions to Porto starlet, Eliaquim Managala.
