Premier League side Chelsea are ready to spend up to £35million in order to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney once the January transfer window opens up in the new year.
The Blues were one of the sides in the Summer that were closely monitoring the transfer saga involving the Englishman, and if reports are to be believed, Jose Mourinho had two formal bids for the 28-year-old rejected by David Moyes.
Despite asking to leave the club, for the second time in his career, Rooney has been in superb form for The Red Devils so far this season, even if the team are not matching up to his standards just yet, and his form has caught the eye once again of Chelsea, who are seriously lacking a natural goalscorer.
The likes of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba are not scoring enough goals for Mourinho’s liking and he is now ready to spend big in order to sign his number-one target.
