Chelsea set sights on league leaders Arsenal

Mourinho has praised his Chelsea side for maturing, and now believes they are showing the maturity they need to challenge for the title.

Which has led to him urging his team to turn the screws on league leaders Arsenal.

Chelsea’s game against Southampton was a game of ups and downs for Chelsea, who went behind in under 13 seconds, but a fantastic second half display, gave fans a glimpse of what Chelsea are capable of this season.

Mourinho went on to say that ‘It was a must win game, and the collective performance was great’

With his side 1-0 down at half-time, Mourinho made the bold decision of bringing on Demba Ba for Michael Essien – whose mistake cost Chelsea Jay Rodriguez’s early goal – to be paired with Fernando Torres up front.

‘Their goal was like a knife in our back. We were not waiting for that and, by surprise, we were losing 1-0. We were losing and we were not producing enough,’ explained Mourinho, who insisted his decision to replace Essien was based on the fact the Ghanaian had been booked.
