Chelsea set to tie down Courtois

According to reports, Chelsea have made a serious breakthrough in the race to keep goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as it’s been reported that the Belgium has signed a new two-year deal at the club.

The shot-stopper has been out on loan at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons and there had been speculation that he could make that loan move a permanent one in the Summer, but if reports are to be believed, a new deal could be in the pipeline.

Courtois has told Jose Mourinho that he will only return to Stamford Bridge if he is guaranteed the number-one jersey, which is currently being filled by Petr Cech.

The new deal would see the 21-year-old penned down until 2016, and earn a significant pay-rise on his current ÂŁ30k-a-week deal.
