John Terry set to have ankle scan

Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of John Terry for their game against Liverpool after the Blues captain suffered an ankle injury against Swansea on Sunday.

The Blues will welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to Stamford Bridge on Friday night (8pm) fresh from a 4-1 thumping of champions Leicester on Saturday.

And with the Reds in such rampant form, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will be desperate to have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Terry rolled his ankle in the 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday and despite making it through the 90 minutes, he left the stadium on crutches.

Chelsea have reportedly spent the last 24 hours trying to bring the swelling down. He will now undergo a scan tomorrow to see if there is anything more serious than a sprain.

However, with Kurt Zouma still recovering from his knee injury and David Luiz yet to make his return to the Premier League, the 35-year-old has been ever-present for the club.

But Italian boss Conte may now be forced to tinker with his defence at Stamford Bridge if Terry’s scan results are not positive.
