The Blues want a ground with a bigger capacity
Chelsea have submitted a planning application to the Hammersmith and Fulham Council for the proposed construction of their new 60,000 seater stadium.
The club want to demolish their current 42,000 capacity stadium [Stamford Bridge] and replace it with a new, state-of-the-art 60,000 seater.
The idea is to boost match day revenue, but the development of a new stadium will cost the club’s hierarchy approximately ÂŁ500 million.
The construction of a new ground will see Chelsea forced to play elsewhere during the time it takes, with Wembley being the preferred option.
