The prolific Colombian has scored 58 goals at club level since the summer of 2012 and has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Roma, who have enjoyed a great season in Serie A and are set to return to the Champions League next term, are keen to make Martinez their marquee signing this summer.
However, the 27-year-old’s representative, Guglielmo Lara, denied suggestions negotiations are underway, claiming Porto will not consider any sale until the end of the season.
Porto are currently experiencing domestic struggles – they are third in the Portuguese league table and could miss out on qualification for next season’s Champions League.
“Roma are a great club, without doubt, but Porto haven’t started any talks for a sale at this moment,” Lara told TMW.
“The situation is critical, as Porto are concentrated only on this final stage of the season. This other issue will be evaluated later on.”
