A move for the Fulham keeper could be done on the cheap

Chelsea are eyeing a move for Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli to replace Petr Cech.

It seems certain that the Czech Republic shot-stopper will leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with a number of teams interested in a potential deal. He hasn’t played as many games as he would like in London, due in no small part to the return of Thibaut Courtois, who has impressed in goal for the club.

Chelsea will need a back-up keeper when Cech does eventually depart the club and they want it to be Bettinelli.

Mourinho watched him play on Wednesday

The England Under-21 international only made his first appearance for Fulham last August and he has impressed since making his debut. So much so, that Jose Mourinho himself watched him play on Wednesday night in the club’s 1-1 draw with Rotherham.

Mourinho is also confident that he can pull off a cut-price deal for Bettinelli because he has just one year left on his current deal at Craven Cottage.

The fee could end up being just £225,000, which is a price Chelsea will be more than willing to pay.
