Reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid are trying to negotiate a loan deal for Falcao despite concerns over the Colombian’s long-term fitness.

The Monaco star was ruled out of the World Cup after rupturing a cruciate ligament whilst playing in Ligue 1 in January.

While publicly insisting otherwise, it is thought the striker is keen to move away from the French side this summer, but Monaco want at least ÂŁ45m if a transfer is to reached.

When Falcao was asked by a Colombian journalist whether he would be playing his football at the Bernabeu next season, he responded: “I’m a Monaco player.

“Right now I’m just focussed on fully recovering from my knee injury.”

The heavy price tag has put off some of his potential employers, who remain unsure how his injury problems will have affected the player’s world class form.

Spanish reports also claim that Monaco want ÂŁ9.5m for the season-long loan with the remaining ÂŁ35.5m to be paid the following summer.

The deal could also have useful effects in terms of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play restrictions as big spenders Real have already sealed the deals of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez for around ÂŁ87m.

It is now up to Chelsea, United or City to see if their interest in the forward remains on the basis of the new terms proposed.
