Chelsea up their offer for Filipe Luis

Chelsea are hoping to reach common ground with Aletico Madrid in order to secure the signature of Brazilian left back Filipe Luis.

Chelsea have upped their offer to ÂŁ15 million after having a ÂŁ12 million bid rejected. This comes after the La Liga champions said they wanted ÂŁ19 million in order to agree to the sale of the former Deportivo player.

Mourinho is said to be reluctant to pay Atletico’s asking price as he keep’s tabs on both Marcos Rojo of Sporting Lisbon and Alberto Moreno of Sevilla, both of which are reported targets for Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool.

The blues are looking to fill the void left by the departure of Ashley Cole who didn’t agree a new contract with Chelsea after losing his place in the starting eleven to natural right back Cesar Azpilicueta. Cole joined Roma on a free transfer yesterday after talks with a number of clubs across Europe and team in the MLS.

Filipe Luis remains Mourinho’s number one target for the void at left back as he looks to add the defender to his collection of former Atletico Madrid players as he has already signed Thiago on a free transfer and Diego Costa for ÂŁ32 million from the La Liga champions.
