Chelsea will take time over transfers

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits it is unlikely that Chelsea will sign any players until after the World Cup.

The Portuguese is keen to re-enforce his squad following a disappointing return campaign at Stamford Bridge which ended trophyless although Diego Costa is already reportedly on his way to Chelsea.

But with many transfer targets focused on Brazil, Mourinho admits it could take some time before any moves are completed.

The Chelsea boss told Sky Sports News“Since the market will be open until August 31, like it is, I think it will be more of the same.

“I think people [will] wait for the World Cup, wait for the first reaction of the first team, wait until after something happens.”

Despite acknowledging there is room for improvement in the squad, Mourinho also believes there is no need for any major changes to the development of the team.

“At Chelsea, the manager is the same, the basic structure of the team is the same, we don’t need the season to finish and the results of the season [to] make the decisions about what we need and what we don’t need,” he added.

“Everything was done during the season. We knew perfectly what we wanted and I don’t think we have huge work to do during the summer really.”
