Manchester City 1 Chelsea 0: Bernardo Silva’s goal helped City complete a double over Chelsea.
Manchester City moved just four wins away from claiming the Premier League title as Bernardo Silva clinched a one-sided 1-0 victory over defending champions Chelsea. It was the Bernardo Silva’s strike which enabled them to open up an 18-point lead at the summit, though Manchester United can close the gap to 16 by winning at Crystal Palace on Monday.
Antonio Conte dropped Alvaro Morata to the bench as he opted against fielding a recognised striker and false nine Eden Hazard was starved of service as they failed to register a shot on target in the match, the imperious City completely overrunning them.
Souness’ match review:”It was men against boys. Tactically Chelsea had a game plan, which didn’t make it a great watch. Chelsea are better than that – we saw them seven days ago go to Manchester United and play better than that. Today they didn’t want to take Manchester City on – they gave them far too much respect.”
City well clear at the top while Chelsea have work to do to finish in the top four.
