City will find it difficult to capture title

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Manchester City will find it difficult to capture the premier league title despite a world class performance against rivals Manchester United.

City are only 3 points behind Chelsea with two games in and however they face a much tougher run-in which include visits to the Emirates, Goodison Park and Anfield. Souness believes they have the strongest squad in the premier league but should have more points at this stage in the season.

“Look at the games they have got left; they are going to Arsenal now and what side of Arsenal are going to turn up? They are certainly going to play and upbeat Liverpool & Everton and those are certainly not easy games”

“Winning here tonight does not assure them of anything. They’ve still got it all to do because of the games.”

Souness went on about Cities defeats to Wigan in the FA cup this season and of the final of the FA cup last season, where City slumped to a 2-1 defeat:

“Without a doubt they are a very good team but they have shown vulnerability several times this year. Go back 12 months to the best team and the best group of players in the league last year – and they didn’t win it. Did the big players in the dressing room not do their bit?”

Chelsea will have one eye on progression to the semi-finals of the champion’s league while City, who already captured the Capital one cup earlier in the season, have set their sights firmly locked on the Premier League trophy. This may perhaps give them the edge over the Londoners – however with Liverpool hot on the heels of City and Chelsea, we are guaranteed a tense battle for the Premier League trophy.
