Liverpool Football Club have revealed that they are in talks with striker Luis Suarez over a potential new deal at the club, despite him wanting to leave just five months ago.
The Reds have held formal talks with Suarez’s agent Pere Guardiola, and Managing director Ian Ayre flew back from Spain in order to hold the talks as they are keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.
It is believed that the Premier League side will offer their star-man around £200k-a-week, which is almost double what he is on currently, and it’s thought that it will be a long-term contract in order to ensure his future is at Anfield.
Despite the contract talks taking place, Spanish giants Real Madrid are still confident on signing Suarez, but Brendan Rodgers doesn’t fear that the Uruguayan could leave.
Rodgers said recently: “He is really happy here. He is playing with a smile and enthusiasm. The whole profile of the club fits him perfectly. The supporters idolise him and you can see the connection there.”
