Thibaut Courtois has said that his future lies with either Athletico Madrid or Chelsea, with links to any other club being just speculation. It has been recently suggested that Real Madrid could look to make a move for the young keeper when the transfer window re-opens in summer.
Courtois however has claimed he will not be moving to the Bernabeu. According to the shot-stopper there are only two possible options for him. He is currently on loan at Atletico, where he is enjoying a third loan spell and he is under contract with Chelsea, although he has said there is no indication he will be breaking into the firet team anytime soon at Stamford Bridge.
Courtois has said: “The talk about Real Madrid is only rumours, it is not true. The one thing I have always said is that it’s Atletico or Chelsea. I’m very happy to be with Atleti, my desire is to play and if I can’t do that with Chelsea and I can continue here, I’ll be very happy.
“I’ve never spoken with Mourinho. At the moment Chelsea cannot guarantee me a place in goal because Petr Cech is there, he is playing well and is one of the best keepers in the world.”
Atletico do wish to keep hold of Courtois services either on another loan or a permanent deal. President Enrique Cerezo is desperate to keep hold of his current goalkeeper. He told Marca: “He is comfortable with us and we’re going to try and keep him here for as long as possible, but it’s not up to us. But we’re going to try with all our might to get him to stay.”
