Ronaldo wants Benzema to stay at Real Madrid

Ronaldo doesn’t want Liverpool’s Luis Suarez at Real Madrid next season if it means seeing Karim Benzema depart for Arsenal.

Reports in Spain suggest that while Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti both covet Suarez, Ronaldo remains less convinced.

Indeed, after winning the Champions League last season, Ronaldo is keen to continue playing alongside Benzema rather than the Uruguayan hitman.

It is thought that Ronaldo believes that Benzema’s selflessness and willingness to create space for others was crucial to his success last season.

And the Portuguese winger isn’t convinced that Suarez will be as happy sacrificing himself for the 29-year-old or where he will fit in to Real’s star-studded forward line.

For his part, Benzema has also said he would like to finish his career at Real, spurning a possible move to the Gunners.

Ultimately though, the decision could be taken out of both Ronaldo’s and Benzema’s hands with Perez’s wishes still the most important thing.

Just yesterday Ancelotti hinted that a bid for Suarez might be forthcoming.

He said: “It is difficult to improve what we have in attack.

“Suarez is a fantastic player but it would be a lack of respect to talk about signings at this stage.”
