Danny Rose insists Tottenham Hotspur players were over the moon following their 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup quarter final.

Goals from Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son were enough as Spurs took sweet revenge of their earlier defeat in the Premier League. Unai Emery’s side came from behind to register a 4-2 victory but this time they were no match for their North London rivals.

Spurs booked a semi-final clash with Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino will have a serious chance to end their trophy drought. The Argentine has been recently linked with the vacant Manchester United managerial role but the manager is pretty focused on his current job and is likely to ramp up the intensity to get past the final hurdle.

Rose said, “We were fully relishing the opportunity.

“Our only motivation was remembering the nonsense that Arsenal posted after the game a few weeks ago.

“That was our motivation. Players that have only played 10 games for Arsenal were getting ahead of themselves. We used that in a positive way. It’s karma. They fully deserve what they got.

“We had the motivation of getting to the semi-final, so we’re over the moon.

“But the cherry on top was silencing them after remembering how they celebrated like they had won the league.

“We’ve put that result right. We’ll see where they are come the end of the season and we’ll see where we are.”
