David Moyes claims referees are against Manchester United

Manchester United manager David Moyes has claimed that his side are currently playing against match officials as well as their opponents.

A 2-1 defeat in the first leg of the Capital One Cup to Sunderland last night saw The Red Devils lose their third game in a row, something they hadn’t done in over a decade.

However, the winner, which came from Fabio Borini from the penalty spot, was quite a controversial one with many people suggesting it wasn’t a penalty, and after the game, Moyes made his opinions very clear.

“It’s really terrible,” Moyes told Sky Sports. “We’re actually beginning to laugh at them [the referees].”

“How could the linesman give that?” he complained.

“The ref was looking straight at it but the linesman would have to have seen straight through Patrice Evra to give it.

“We had a player booked the other day for a similar thing that they got a penalty for.

“The decision for the first goal, I don’t see how it was a free-kick. That doesn’t take away our poor defending from the free-kick, though.”
