David Moyes reveals Bale regrets

Ex-Manchester United boss, David Moyes, has admitted he has massive regrets at failing to sign Gareth Bale before he joined Real Madrid.

The Welshman had a superb season for Tottenham Hotspur but failed to get them back into the Champions League, leaving him wanting to quit the club in order to play in Europe’s top competition.

Real Madrid and United were both interested in signing Bale, but the winger eventually chose the Spanish side in a deal worth ÂŁ85million, breaking the transfer record set by Cristiano Ronaldo when he left United for the Bernabeu.

Now at Real Sociedad, Moyes has admitted that he was desperate to sign Bale for United.

“When I got the job, I thought Gareth Bale would have been a super Manchester United player,” he said.

“I thought he had that look about him that you expect to see in Manchester United players.

“He was someone we were really interested in but he had his heart set on Real Madrid.”

Moyes didn’t last the season at Old Trafford and was sacked near the end of the campaign.
