Manchester United manager David Moyes has written an open letter to the club’s season ticket holders asking them to be patient with him and continue to support the club through testing times.

The Scot hasn’t had a season to remember at Old Trafford so far and is facing a lot of criticism from the footballing world after he has struggled to fill Sir Alex Ferguson’s shoes, who retired at the end of last season.

United are out of the FA Cup, the Premier League title-race, and are 2-0 down in their Champions League tie with Greek side Olympiakos, and what is worse for Moyes and co. is that they face a tough ask achieving a top-four finish in the league, meaning they will miss out on next season’s Champions League.

In an attempt to ease the pressure on himself, he has written a letter to the season ticket holders of the club where he has admitted that the job has been tougher than he expected.

‘While I knew that this job would be a challenge when I took it on, the difficult season we have experienced was not something that I envisaged, which I am sure is the case as well for you supporters – and my players, staff and I are desperate to compensate for that.’

He continued: ‘Everywhere we turn, people outside the club have a lot to say about Manchester United, but we have all stuck together through some tough times this season and I firmly believe that, in the long run, we will all come out the other end, stronger for the experiences.’
