Midfielder has made a dramatic U-turn to join Man City

Fabian Delph has claimed leaving Aston Villa is the ‘hardest decision he has ever had to make.’

The midfielder claimed just six days ago that he would be turning down a move to Man City and staying at Villa. However, the Etihad side have today reactivated the player’s release clause and he has decided to go ahead and make the move.

The deal is worth ÂŁ8m and he now follows fellow countryman, Raheem Sterling, in making the move to the 2014 Premier League champions.

He told the Express: “Leaving Aston Villa is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.

“My decision to stay initially was purely based on the emotion and feelings that I hold for the club rather than looking at the football opportunity that had been placed in front of me.”

The 25-year old featured 28 times for Aston Villa in the last campaign, scoring two goals and getting three assists.
