Di Maria determined to impress

Angel Di Maria has hit back at reports suggest that he regrets joining Manchester United and insists that he is focused on bringing Champions League football back to Old Trafford.

After making a sensational start to his United career, injuries and being played out of position have meant that the quality of the Argentina international’s performances have dropped dramatically, with reports suggesting this week that the player believes he made a mistake leaving Real Madrid for the Premier League.

But now, Di Maria has rubbished speculation by stating that he has needed time to adapt to wherever he has been playing and insists that the best is yet to come in United colours.

“I’ve had a couple of games where things haven’t gone as well as they could have,” he said. “I think it’s part of that settling-in process to the English game.

“I started off quite well but I think that then made expectations rise and everyone thought I would just carry on in the same way. But football is like that, sometimes you have these ups and downs.

“It took me a while to settle fully in each of the countries where I’ve played before.

“I just have to keep working hard and focusing on what I want, which is to do as well as I possibly can.”
