Spanish striker Diego Costa, has released a formal statement confirming that his future is in West London rather than Madrid.

The 25-year-old has had a superb season for Atletico Madrid, guiding them to the Champions League final, as well as being crowned La Liga champions, but after a ÂŁ32million bid was made by Chelsea, the move was all-but arranged.

Despite the formalities not being officially completed yet, it is known that Costa will be a Chelsea player come August, when the new season starts, and he has released a statement discussing the move.

“It is clear that my future at Chelsea is more than Atletico Madrid,” he admitted.

“Atletico has been my home, my life and I have a lot of affection for the club, but there are things in life that happen and you have to accept them.

“Now I’ll have to talk to my family because this year has been pretty good but hard in several aspects.

“Atletico has been my whole life, I think after all this time that I fought to have a space there I succeeded.

“I tried to do it the best way possible and thanks to them I was able to get a place here and wear the shirt of Spain and represent this country.”
