Liverpool targeting Chelsea defender

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly turned his interest to Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand, after seemingly giving up on Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno.

The Reds boss has made it clear that he wants to sign defensive reinforcements as he prepares for life back in the Champions League at Anfield, and despite having a ÂŁ16million bid accepted from Sevilla for Moreno, talks have stalled since then and the Spanish side are now refusing to open negotiations.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that they now want at least ÂŁ20m for the left-back, and Rodgers isn’t ready to pay that much for the 21-year-old.

With Moreno being priced out of a move, Rodgers is now turning his attentions to Bertrand, who spent half of last season out on loan with Aston Villa, and it’s believed The Blues will accept an offer around ÂŁ6m for the Englishman.

Jose Mourinho is willing to sell Bertrand as he eyes Luis Filipe from Atletico Madrid to replace Ashley Cole.
