Diego Costa has stated that he does not agree with comments made by Xavi Alonso, with the midfielder stating that Spain did not prepare well for the World Cup finals.

Spain were dumped out of the Tournament at the Group stage, following two defeats from two, against the Netherlands ( 1-5 ) and Chile ( 0-2 ).

Spain went into the World Cup as defending Champions, of both the World Cup, and European Championships.

And Costa has hit back at Alonso’s comments, with the Chelsea bound striker stating that his side were ready.

The striker told Marca.com: “I don’t agree with his comments. Everybody here was focused on winning.

“I’m here because I wanted to win, I wanted to reach the final and do a good job, but it wasn’t to be.

“We obviously lacked something, but in terms of quality, we’re superior to many other teams.”
